Two-tine flesh or toasting fork with a turned maple handle, American, dating from about the middle of the 19th century. This piece appears to be an ingenious period make-do created by fitting the end of a table fork into into a longer handle in order to render it useful over an open fire or cookstove. The handle, which is grooved, has been fitted with a wire hanger. Condition Metal tip is slightly off the vertical & slightly loose; minor oxidation; generally very good with an appealing old patina.
