I have been thinking about transferring my watercolor abstract paintings onto to fabric for almost a year now. I developed a technique where I add eco-friendly color powders to tapioca powder. The tapioca holds the watery fabric dye from running. This enables me to create a brushstroke that is clear & visual. I played around with color before deciding on this harmonious palette. I love the drama of the red paint & the hint of orange. The black stroke feels like a Chinese calligraphy brush, which is unexpectedly joined by an ocean of blues. For me, this is a visual story of color, the art of the hand & abstraction of shapes. It is truly a work of Art that can be worn. (Note: After the fabric is painted, it is boiled in hot water to remove any residue of powders. Later the fabric is immersed in cold water which has a sealing gel to hold the color.)
