THE HIGHLAND II BAR The versatile & unique ‘HIGHLAND II’ bar & drinks cabinet is made from a reclaimed & distinctive oak whiskey barrel. Sometimes decades old, the heavy & durable oak barrels are brimming with character making each drinks cabinet / mini bar unique. MADE TO ORDER: Each item is made to order. The finish & look of the barrel will change from item to item, this is what makes each one so unique but please bear this in mind - if you have a specific request we will do our best to accommodate it. As this is a reclaimed timber product it is susceptible to moisture & changing environments, as such there can be movement in the wood over a period of time. We also advise that you take the time to consider suitable floor protection especially if you have a solid wooden floor that may mark or scratch. Due to the nature of the item, the ‘Highland’ will be delivered on a pallet & will require a signature. It is not suitable for click & collect. SIZE: H90cm x W65cm x D30cm (approx) THE INSIDE: When the barrel was first used for aging whisky the inside was burnt & charred which caramelizes the wood sugars & results in a smoother, mellower flavour whisky. We take time to treat & preserve the dark black charred feature so that it doesn’t flake or bleach when exposed day-light. We add a glass/wine rack & a double shelf that can be used to store bottles, glasses, decanter sets, or other drinking accessories. THE OUTSIDE: When we first get hold of the barrel after it’s years of service housing the finest bourbon, the outside is often coated in years of dust, dirt, & rust! We carefully work the oak whilst maintaining the uniqueness & remove the rust from the steel bands just enough so that they complement the reclaimed look we are looking for. We then preserve with a combination of varnish / wax / clear lacquer. THE ARTISAN BROTHERS: David & Tom create timeless handcrafted furniture & home decor in the West Midlands, England.
