New for 2021. This Post Box shaker represents great English historical significance in the history of the UK postal services. My home city of Rochester, England has the only working ‘Penfold ‘style Post box in its original colour left in the world, complete in gold leaf decor. The real one is situated near the Rochester Guildhall Uk, very near the arts market I have a stand at.I have made this in collaboration with Rochester City Arts Council & is an official Rochester UK souvenir to help promote the City & I will be promoting throughout 2021 & hopefully at the outdoor arts market itself later in the year when we are able to do so. The post box shaker itself(the pepper) has all the correct features as the original does -The Victorian seal, the original makers name from the mid 1800’s( Cochrane,Grove & Co Dudley)The gold leaf finial on top & an official Rochester Souvenir UK backstamp permanently fired on the back of the post box.All the gold trim is in a gold onglaze lustre which has 10% real gold content. The sandwich board (salt)also includes historical info about the Post box & also is a tribute to all the individual shops along Rochesters historical High Street which all use Sandwich boards to advertise their wares . I modelled the originals of these in plaster to get the precision & then made plaster piece moulds ready for the slip casting process( liquid clay) Height of post box approx:17cm( to very top of finial) by 5.5cm diameter.
