The SHELF DE VIN is crafted entirely from a reclaimed oak whisky barrel. We carefully notch the lid of the barrel so that wine glasses can be hung safely & elegantly above your bottles. The original metal banding has been used to add a special feature to the shelf, whilst also ensuring that your bottles are secure. The staves from the barrel form the two sides, which have been preserved & treated to ensure the dark black charred effect doesn’t flake or bleach when exposed to light. This unit looks great on a counter top but can also be hung on your wall fixtures & fittings not included When we first get hold of the barrel after it’s years of service housing the finest bourbon, the outside is often coated in years of dust, dirt, & rust! We carefully work the oak whilst maintaining its uniqueness & remove the rust from the steel bands just enough that they compliment our staple reclaimed look. We then preserve with a combination of varnish / wax / clear lacquer. MADE TO ORDER: Each item is made to order & therefore the exact finish & look of the shelving unit may vary from item to item - this is what makes each one so unique but please bear this in mind. If you have a specific request we will do our best to accommodate it. As this is a reclaimed timber product it is susceptible to moisture & changing environments, as such there can be movement in the wood over a period of time.
