A very elegant & very grown up early 19th Century South German Miniature walnut chest / apprentice piece with the most beautiful wood grain & bands of inlay along the top ,sides & drawers with ringed handles & a fancy brass escutcheon with working key which mechanism locks the top & bottom simultaneously,all raised up on toupie feet completing an enchanting composition. When I saw this antique chest I had to take another breath as the wood grain & patina took my breath away . From the detailed bands of inlays around the drawers & sides to the amazing wood grains on the top I knew I had to have it The chest / miniature is in very good condition for its age & one can tell it has been well looked after . There is of course wear commiserate with age but this can be expected on a piece of this age with the odd scratch , mark but all inlay intact & the richness of the walnut patina has with stood the tests of time . A lovely miniature for a hall table ,drawing room, bookcase , sideboard or as an amazing jewellery box . The miniature also looks fantastic on the floor under a hall or drawing room table as it’s patina catches the light & it is highly visible from any position be it floor or tabletop To bring that eclectic English classical style into your home .
