Painted springerle are an Old World treat, dating back to the 14th century & not often seen for sale this side of the Atlantic. in my version, the Old World meets a New School, swapping out the traditional anise-flavored cookie for lemon shortbread painted with vibrant, modern colors & 24 karat gold luster dust. Each shortbread is handmade with love in my kitchen & hand painted using food gel & a tiny bit of alcohol. This technique does not affect the taste of the shortbread. It lasts for awhile & actually get better with age. I suggest keeping them in an airtight container & after a week (if they last that long you may want to put them in the fridge for up to a month. Each order is handmade with love in my kitchen either the day of or night before they’re shipped out. For freshness, orders are shipped via 2-day priority shipping on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Wednesdays.
