A rare & beautiful set of decanter & 4 vintage handblown Caithness Crystal Canisbay space age glasses with heavy clear stems & smoky glass bowls, known as peat by Caithness. This rather gorgeous set is from the Canisbay series & were designed by Colin Terris for Caithness Glass in 1972. The Canisbay range of glass received a Design Council Award. The set is a lovely, warm, smoky colour & a heavy, clear glass foot. They are very futuristic in feel - & sit very well in the hand. They could be used for sherry or a good Scottish Single Malt! The glasses measure approximately 115mm in height, with a diameter of 55mm at the rim & have a capacity of 80ml. The decanter stands approximately 280mm tall including the stopper, with a diameter of 110mmat the widest point. The Canisbay range is named after a small hamlet near John O’Groats in the North of Scotland. There are subtle differences to all the glasses & some inclusions or bubbles in the stems - as to be expected for hand-blown glasses. They are in very good vintage condition. The base of the decanter has some very slight scuffs as does the base of the stopper. There are a couple of tiny fleabites on the base of the stopper, commensurate with its age. Please see the images for an accurate depiction of their condition.
