4 PRISMA #6060 juice glasses (175 ml) by Kaj Franck (1911-1989), Finland. Nuutajrvi / Arabia glass, 1967 design. Vintage Mid-century Mod Finnish glass. Clear pressed glass, gently flaring, with three horizontally faceted sections. The Prisma design was in production between 1967-1979 & 1987-1990. Approx measurements Capacity: 175 ml Height: 65 mm Diameter top: 73 mm Weight: 550g unpacked Condition: Excellent condition. No faults to mention. There are no stickers attached to the glasses. Kaj Franck is considered by many as the conscience of Finnish design. Functionality & compatibility were the underlying concepts of his streamlined utility articles, which he often choose to decorate only with color. He designed articles that were beautiful, functional & affordable to the public.His involvement in the design industry was extensive. He was a glass designer for Riihimaen Lasi in 1934.From 1943 to 1973, he was the head of design of ceramic utility wares for Arabia & also design director from 1968 to 1973. He designed glass for Iittala from 1946 to 1950. From 1950 to 1976 he was the art director for Nuutajarvi glass.He also designed textile, furniture, lighting & plastics. in addition to glass utility wares he also designed art glass which was often decorated with color or colorless glass many with internal bubbles. He received many awards,medals & prizes. His works are include in the following collections:The Victoria & Albert Museum, Musee des Arts Decoratifs, the Museum of the Modern Art, the Corning Glass Museum & many museums in his homeland, Finland.
